Dating of photograph Daughter of Charity
« on: Thursday 17 December 20 10:28 GMT (UK) »
On going through my mother's photographs I came across the attached & have no idea who the nun could be.  I have established it is of a Daughter of Charity. I contacted this order but they were unable to identify the nun.  There are no details on the back to give me even a clue.  My thought was if the photo could be dated then it would help attach a time frame to how my mother came by it & thus lead to a location to further the research.
A long shot I know but any advice would be appreciated.
Many thanks

Although there's nothing on the back the style of postcard
backs changed over time so may give an indication.
At the moment I would suggest Edwardian.
I must say it has the look of a stock photo so may not be a relative.

thank you so much for your reply.  I had another look at the photograph & feel you are right it doesn't look like a family taken snap so I probably won't be able to claim this lovely lady as my own.  Never mind onward & upward.
take care & stay safe

She's probably the Mother Superior of the Order as she would be the only one with an office.

thanks, Jim, I should have thought of that as I was Convent School educated & had to sit outside a few head nuns offices after some mischief or another!!!
