Congratulations Gibel.. pleased to hear you had a lovely day on your birthday.

LM - your church zoom evening sounds like fun... Christmas jumper wearing and lit up dangly earrings to be enjoyed too along with winning prizes.
I’m sorry your poor granddaughter was so upset with these new changes... it’s hard for everyone but I think some youngsters feel it quite severely. At least you have a 21st celebration to look forward to in the future...
We all need to keep things in perspective and know that we will eventually get back to seeing our families again in more normal situations.... we have our nieces wedding on May 1st we’re all hoping will go ahead... a joyful event to focus on!

Caroline, I'd gone offline so didn't see your post till this morning.
Wow, what a day you had!  Up at silly o'clock for the turkey and later a mad dash to London, you must have been exhausted when you went to bed. It must have been awful for you to hear that you couldn't meet them on Wednesday after all but how lovely to see them even for such a short time. I'm sure it was ample reward for your OH to see the smiles on all your faces. I hope you're having a rest today but I bet you're not!

Annette, a lovely day out for you, good to be able to go out for lunch. I think these places must be running at a loss by the time they've paid for staff, heating and lighting. Perhaps they're hoping that people will choose them again in future when things are better.

LM, good to hear you had such a lovely time, little things make all the difference these days. Well done on the winnings!

Jeff, your carol singsong sounds great, I'm sure it will have given the passers by a lift.

Rosie, thanks for the info, I guess it wasn't as daft as I thought!

I don't often post on the diary thread though I do read it most days but I do hope that you are all able to enjoy Christmas somehow even if it is only chatting to someone or 'seeing' them open their presents and cards online.  Special thoughts for those who are on their own, I do at least have OH to talk to       Life in Tier 4 won't be great but at least I have a reason to leave the house and maybe see someone to talk to when walking the dog.

Thank you Rosie, I'll be counting my blessings for what I do have. The dog walkers are the people I say hello to or have a brief chat on my daily walks, I'm always happy to do that.

Most dog walkers seem happy to exchange the time of day whether they know you or not.  I did say 'Hi' to one yesterday though (a lady) who told me she did not speak to strangers

Oh Rosie, that was a bit mean, it seems people do acknowledge  you or speak moreso since the lockdowns, even having a laugh trying to avoid people on a path, so I will give you a cheery  "Hi Rosie"

I did chuckle about it.  I live in an 'urban village' so people were generally friendly before covid.  Fortunately my path to the local 'rec' is generally clear though I do cross the road early if I need to.

I am at the stage where I do stupid unnecessary things ,neglecting the necessary!
Like polishing the coal but not washing up straight away!
Ah well, it always gets done somehow.

Spoke with son no 2 ,sister phoned ,she is quite indignant that life is not as she is used to !
Not sure but she seems to be cooking Christmas dinner and taking it all to her daughter’s.——?
Daughter phones tonight ,on for ages so like to have it all done beforehand.
 Still got presents to wrap for grandson to take back to Suffolk. They were going to visit his mother in law ,but not now I don’t expect ,so it could be 2000 and frozen to death before they get them!
Well been thinking, I am buying myself a present ,something I do not normally buy, a box of chocolates ,have a few then hide them and hope I forget where!
Phoned today regarding Covid 19 vaccination .
Health centre said they were just going through the list ,and now the first will be on December,29 th.But not at my health centre but in Bury ,how stupid ,
I have my son who will drive me there but others will not have anyone .
A friend has had her first, different Health Centre but nearby.
There seems no sense to the allocations.

Guess what - it rained today .
Dark by three but it is the shortest day.

Well nothing to report really, must make mince pies though ,but not just yet.

Viktoria - I’m pleased to hear you’re going to get your vaccine...perhaps once you’ve had the second dose your family will be able to visit which I’m sure you’re looking forward to that day...
For those not able to get to where the vaccinations are being done perhaps there are kind folk who will help out... a friend of ours has taken two elderly kadues for theirs...
A box of chocolates sounds a real treat... my mother was always very disciplined having only one... I’d eat the whole lot!

Rosie - great your dog makes friends for you and you can at least have conversations with others... what a rude person though not to even say hello... some people may be apprehensive of course though...
