If the Anne Dawson/Charles Chissell marriage produced a Charlie and a Willie (Charles & William) then that will confirm the piece of paper that OP has.  The farm's  name may have been Choiseul?

I think it is just a variant of the surname - a misspelling

William Chissell January 1925
Charles Chissell April 1926
Both Tullamore

There is also James Aloysius Chissell in 1924

These would have to be checked for mmn.

Thanks everyone. All seems to fit.

The CHOISEUL name may have been French originally but ended up being spelt like it sounded. There were French Hugenots in Ireland. Ann may have been called Nattie.

Right William as far as I can see as one of the marriage witnesses Louis O'Connor was a cousin of his.

Hello from Ireland
I've come across an old thread discussing Dawson/Choiseul connection. Anne Dawson used to call herself Nantie for some reason. She was one of my grandmothers.
She had a first cousin who immigrated to NZ called Murray. The mad Murrays, although living a life of privilege ended up with the wheels pretty much falling off the wagon.
If you have any information I would be most grateful
Best regards
Paul.

Hi Paul

Thanks for getting in touch.

Sorry I can't help you with any of the Murray info, but if you can provide names and a bit more info from your end I can probably then find them in NZ. When did they come here? Was the cousin on the DAWSON side or the KEENAN side?

Would also be interested in any info you can provide on the Choiseul and Dawson side. as well.

Regards
Ian C

Hello Ian
Thanks for the speedy reply. Timothy Murray left Tinnakeenly, Co kilkenny, sailed to NZ, settled in Wellington, went off to WW1 and the western front, injured, back to NZ, became familiar with the police and local magistrates. He ended up in Paekakariki. When he died, he left his estate to a Sydney Brown. I actually contacted a relative of Sydney who made inquiries on my behalf but sadly, nobody had any recollection of Timothy. I know this sounds nuts, but I was half hoping you were his son/ grandson. His mother, died October 1891,was Maria Dawson from Caragh, Co Kildare. When the Murrays sold Tinnakeenly, the new owners had to get an exorcism preformed!!!  Maria's brother William married a Mary Keenan and lived in Raheenbeg, Co Offaly. They had Anne ( nantie) Michael and Patrick. Anne married Charles Chissell (Choiseul) who died 5 years after marriage. They produced James, William and my father Charles. In you OP years ago, you had an image with Paddy, Michael  rip and Nantie written down, was that a photograph?
It's sad the way the Murrays finished up, even at this remove, but set la vie.
Best regards
Paul.
