Old pubs in Cumbria
« on: Sunday 20 December 20 15:40 GMT (UK) »
On looking into a family connection, I find that some of her family moved from Lancashire to Cumbria and at one point had a public house which I have transcribed as Ring 6 Bells in Kirkland.  They lived there in 1911.  Does anyone know if I have transcribed this correctly?  Prior to having this public house they lived at the Wheatsheaf Hotel in Kirkland in 1901.  There name was Cropper

Quite a few Croppers around Kendal nowadays, including a long established paper making firm.

Thank you both for that information.  I shall change the name I have.  As to the Cropper family - I have then starting off in Warrington, then moving to Manchester and some moving the Lancaster.  I think the majority were in Lancaster though.  My Cropper name lived in Manchester and married my grandmother's cousin.

Once again, that you.
