Other countries have a test procedure for quickly taking temperatures without touching the individuals - I haven't seen hair nor hide of us doing anything like a test.Admittedly I have recently heard that some Covid carriers do not show increase in temperature - but we didn't know that early this year did we?

It's been known for months that temperature is a pretty poor indicator of covid infection.

This darned thing - some can smell/taste, others can't smell/taste, some have coughts/no coughts; temperature/no temperature.

Thanks, I appreciate the links but due to two failed catarract ops, my eyesight is pretty abysmal these days and long paragraphs send words spinning  I have to rely on remembering verbal discussions.

I didn't take much notice but I did hear during a discussion sometime recently that the virus stays on some surfaces up to 72 hours..  Are we importing the virus on some form of packaging?

With the highest (or one of the highest) infection rates in Europe, importing the virus from anywhere else isn't the issue. Maybe we should be more concerned about not exporting it.

I share your thoughts re exporting our virus strain --- and I hear Scotland has banned the English from crossing their border

On my Facebook page today, our local MP posted a notice that our little town has increased virus cases by approx 67% in ONE WEEK.

It's not me guv, I aint been outside this 'ouse for months - I'm cul;tivating my derriere. . :D,.

An interesting article in The Guardian
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/dec/21/european-experts-urge-caution-over-new-covid-mutation-uk

Amongst other things has this to say:

The Dutch government confirmed on Sunday that a case with the new mutation had been diagnosed in the country at the beginning of December, suggesting it may already have been in the country for some time.

Since it's not spreading as fast in other countries, according to them, I fear we must put the blame, if we're having a blame game, on those stupid people who just ignore the advice given them by our government, which seems to always be one step behind the game anyway.

We're in Tier 2 and will follow the lead of our Queen and have a quiet Christmas, meeting briefly out in the fresh air with our children and their families to exchange presents.  Oh, just a thought - shall we have to isolate our presents for 3 days just to be safe?  People in the village who have bought in lots of food for family get-togethers are offering a meals on wheels service to anyone who is spending Christmas alone this year.
