I now know that Hugh died after 1922 but before 1931.

Should be easy to find the record but don't know where to turn next.

I don't see any that jump out. From memory, one in Inverness, a couple in Edinburgh, one in Glasgow.

I checked from before 1911 :-\

Just found two possibles in the service returns - both 1917. I wonder if William didn't say on his marriage.

 Hi ,
Do you know where Margaret/Maggie was buried ? Could she be buried beside Hugh ?

I have MI'S for a few cemeteries in the Stranraer area but unfortunately this is not one of them.

 Maggie died Old Luce, 1954.

I've looked at the online MIs * and no sign of them.. It could be that there was no monument. Maybe a phonecall to D&G to find out about a lair.

*not sure of latest date.

Silly me - I didn't look at Findagrave - I always think of it as an easy check for US deaths and not UK ones   :-[

I recall that I did see an online tree with a mention of a Hugh, with similar dates, who went to NZ. Also a daughter Margaret.

I'll see if I can find it again.

No the NZ one isn't him. This one seems to have emigrated with his wife and family.

Yes I created Maggie's Find A Grave entry.

I believe she is buried at Stoneykirk cemetery, but without a headstone - she is remembered on the grave of three of her children at Inch (I think) cemetery.

"In loving memory of Joseph 1904-1971. Also his sister Maggie 1902-1983. Also their sister Jeannie 1907-1987. Also their mother Margaret WILSON 1871-1954 interred Stoneykirk cemetery. FRASER"

No sign of Hugh there either.

I've thought for a long time he may have just done a runner, never to be seen or heard of again.
