Mary Ann McAvenny, 1900. Joseph is a soldier in Africa - Boer War?

Private J McAvenney, 1742, 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers. Queen's South Africa Medal 1901 with clasps for Belmont, Orange Free State, Transvaal and Natal. Looks like he was discharged in 1901, time expired.

Superb, awesome, thank you all loads, will see if I can find Josephs dad Francis! Another struggle!

Anybody able to find anything on Mary Lavery or her father James.

In 1896 on Marys wedding it says James lives in Moira
Thanks again,

Kev.

The marriage does NOT say that James lives in Moira. Marriage certificates list residence of bride and groom which may, or may not, be where their families were living.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

The parish record shows Moira.
I wonder if this is James? He is a widower.

In that census, James Lavery is brother in law to Edward Stewart. Jane Stewart is Edward’s wife.

Here is the marriage of Edward Stewart and Jane Lavery - her father is Hugh.
