Looking for a KENYAN death certificate
« on: Tuesday 22 December 20 19:33 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking to find a death certificate for my great-great uncle David Francis Gatty Moir who died in (mysterious circumstances in) Kenya on the 9th of August 1944. My family is fairly confident that although he was in Kenya to serve as an army doctor, his death was not directly war-related. I've been hoping to get the death certificate in order to gain more clarity on why he died. However, the only way that one seems to be able to do this is to order one through E-Citizen Portal, and you have to be a Kenyan citizen to do this (I am British). Is there any other way I can obtain a death certificate?

Hi ,

I note this has been asked before-

Also-

There was a comment that Muriel may have died in Scotland in 1997.
As far as I can see this is Muriel Anne Moir , age 64 , so I would think too young to be your Muriel.

Have you thought of applying for a copy of his British army records?

Hi there,

Yes, I'm no longer wondering about Muriel - I now know what happened to her. I'm just looking to find a death certficate for David. Thanks.

Hi,

I'm not sure how that would help? I know where and what he served as.

Hi,

The thought was that as he was a serving soldier when he died, the circumstances of his death might be recorded in his army file.
