mixed tier care home visits
« on: Wednesday 23 December 20 16:23 GMT (UK) »
Now the country is being carved up into smaller and smaller tiers, does anyone know if there are definitive rules on visiting relatives in care homes in a lower tier?  Gov.uk is clear as mud.  The only thing that is clear is that irrespective of what tier the visitor lives in, travel is allowed for care home visits provided they are outdoor or screened.

I have signed up to get regular Covid updates from the local council.  I don't know if they do the same in your area? but the information from them has been very helpful.

Just been put up into tier 3 and within minutes a new message had arrived explaining the rules.

Hope you can find out  :)

I get regular updates from my Council also.

It you download the NHS Covid app you can find all the latest instructions there, put in a post code and it tells you. It also lists the places that are moving up a tier in the next few days.

Presumably you have a tablet of laptop to be on Rootschat, you don’t just need a smart phone to get Apps :)

When I googled it the info was about downloading to an android phone or an iphone.  It won't let me download to my desktop.  I have a fire tablet but it's elderly and apps that I used to be able to use on it no longer work because the OS is too old.  Still gets RC though  :).  Although underneath the branding I believe it's an android, it can't find the NHS covid-19 app in the app store.  It offered me lots of diet and exercise apps though, does it know something I don't!

I'm not tech-phobic - used to be in IT - but don't feel the need to upgrade my tech every 5 minutes.  I guess I'm one of the disenfranchised.

Hard luck, it’s very frustrating the way they keep developing things and expect everyone to keep up with the latest technology. I think it a secret plan to make our technology appear obsolete, just to  part us from our cash. >:(

Jane, this might help you install it on your tablet. No guarantee if it's a very old OS but worth a try:

Amazon's Fire Tablet normally restricts you to the Amazon Appstore. But the Fire Tablet runs Fire OS, which is based on Android. You can install Google's Play Store and gain access to every Android app, including Gmail, Chrome, Google Maps, Hangouts, and the over one million apps in Google Play.
