Is it possible that there is a middle name James - shortened to Jas -- then the surname starts with a capital 'P' ? Probably not - but just a thought.

Perry is not beyond the realms of possibility actually - the 2 x letter 'n's COULD be 'r' s -- but the 'y' will be completely above the 'line.'

Shropshire is not far from the Welsh borders so Penry is a possibility, perhaps.
