Heap Marriages in Liverpool
« on: Thursday 24 December 20 22:48 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone,

Merry Xmas for a start! :)

I'm posting as a long shot before I resort to buying all marriage certificates from GRO

is there anyway anyone could look up these Heap marriages for me in Liverpool?

Richard Heap 1917 Emma Hudson - last occupation Dock labourer
Robert Heap 1919 Edith M Pearson -last occupation labourer
William Heap 1895 Margaret O'Connor
George 1896 Ada Foxon

I'm hoping the father's name will be William Heap on them all.
He worked in Brassworks/ as an Engine Fitter  but was also just recorded as a 'Labourer' on census.

I can't find William (b 1864)
and George (b 1870) both in Liverpool on further censuses so am hoping potential marriages will shed some light.

George was last seen on the 1891 census employed by the postal service, and William the 1881 (he's just stated as apprentice here)

Any help would be appreciated before I buy the certificates!!

Thanks in advance :)

Thank you for such a quick reply!

I might have to rethink Richard's supposed death in 1929

I don't know how I've never noticed this on ancestry before- I feel rather silly!!

I can’t see a marriage for George Heap/Ada Foxon  :-\

I found it in 1896 on the England + Wales Marriages

As you couldn't find it- I narrowed it down and found that on findmypast.co.uk, the index is under 'George Heaps' in 1897 and 'Aderiennener Foxon' and on the ancestry image his father is Thomas Heaps!

I feel like I'm rather answering my own query here! Glad I didn't order the certificates!
Guess I'll have to keep searching what happened to these elusive Heap men...

if it helps
George Heaps address was 26 Bridport Street and his father Thomas was a canal Boatman - and as you can see - it wasn't 1896 - but 3 days in to 1897  :)

Marriage: 3 Jan 1897 Holy Trinity, Liverpool, Lancashire, England
George Heaps - 22, Fishmonger, Bachelor, 26 Bridport St.
Aderiennener Foxon - 21, Fishmonger, Spinster, 26 Bridport St.
    Groom's Father: Thomas Heaps, Boatman
    Bride's Father: John Foxon, Fishmonger
    Witness: John Heaps; Martha Ollerton
Married by Banns by: J. Henry Skewes, Vicar
ADDED
Different names spelling wise for BOTH Groom and Bride on the reading of the Banns
Banns: Holy Trinity, Liverpool, Lancashire, England
George Heep - Bridport St.
Ada Foxon - Bridport St.
    Banns Read: 20 Dec 1896, 2nd: 27 Dec 1896, 3rd: 3 Jan 1897

but obviously this George is only 22 - he would have to be 26 to be your George b 1870 ??

Thank you for that, and yes, that is my George there!
Harriett was first baptised in a Catholic church which is why it states age 15 in the margin, and she definitely did marry Joseph Tipping
