Ernest Robert Southern, did he serve in WW2.
« on: Monday 28 December 20 21:53 GMT (UK) »
Ernest Robert Southern was born on the 14th Aug 1922 in Durham but lived in the Cheshire area during the war years, he didn't marry until after the war in 1947.
Can anyone tell me what he did or if he served during World war two, ie where he served and any regimental numbers and so on.
Very interested in this ancestor of mine who seems very hard to find information for.

Service records for anyone serving after 1920 are still with the MOD.

See: https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records
There is a fee of £30, and you'll need a death certificate.

N.B. these records are NOT online anywhere :D

Two children born to the marriage - have you tried contacting them?

There is also a tree on Ancestry - you could try contacting the tree owner
