What a relief for you Gibel that it's working, things always feel worse when you're cold and tired, hope you sleep well tonight and feel better tomorrow.  :-*

Hopefully a much better year coming up for you, Gibel.
Might seem like a dumb question, what is a boiler, in the sense of a heater?

Heats the water for the central heating system I expect.....

So assuming the hot water goes through the pipes in the flat?

This reminds me of  when I was  youngster living at home in London, ice would form on the windows, particularly my bedroom window, when I got married and moved to our new built  own house my husband installed the central heating the following year, we felt as if we were in heaven, if we went away for a weekend our Parkray  would still alight on our return, eventually we had to install gas central heating but it is bliss, wedont know how lucky we are

Pleased  your heating is back and running Gibel

So assuming the hot water goes through the pipes in the flat?

The system we had in our last house had pipes to radiators in every room and the hot water circulated, so if the radiator received hot water it gave off heat.
But Gibel might have something different.....

Oh yes LM, we had ice on the inside of our windows in Leicester in 1978.

MH, think we are getting spoilt but we deserve it don't we?

I have camped with girl guides with snow on the ground when I was training , encouraged to wear a hat in bed as apparently that is where most heat is lost, don't think my husband would lime me to wear a knitted bobble hat in bed!!

Just to explain It’s a gas boiler that heats the water that circulates round the pipes linking the radiators. It also instantly heats the hot water when you turn on the hot tap. When the boiler was turned off nothing circulated and there was no hot water. However what the engineer did today is as long as the boiler is switched on there is heating. I will have to physically turn it off tonight and on in the morning but I’ll have hot water. I hope that makes sense.

I’ve just removed a layer the first time in 6 days I did undress for bed!. It’s lovely!
