My daughter has come up with a solution to the problem of people from the London area (or plague rats as she calls them) coming illegally to this part of Wales and partying whilst we locals are locked down & her non-essential shop is closed as we stay at home to bring down the levels of infection:

Here in Wales by staying at home we've reduced the case rate from 650 per 100,000 to 450 per 100,000 in a fortnight.  I don't take kindly to people disobeying our laws - particularly those who don't live here.  For information the number of new cases in Sussex: 808. Number of new cases in Powys: 27.

England: data updated daily
Northern Ireland: no data on 1 January
Scotland: no deaths data on 1–4 January
Wales: no data on 1 January
UK totals for each day will reflect the sum of the nations which reported data. Cases and deaths that would have been reported during these periods are likely to instead be reported on the following days. As a result, any changes to published data should be interpreted with caution during this period, as they may be a result of changes to reporting schedules.

Just more of your assumptions Greensleeves?  Can you quote me the words I used that suggested that I made a trek to the Brecon Beacons.  I have a chronic underlying health condition which will carry me off for sure if I get covid so i couldn't get out and walk anyway.

Its the expectation that everyone should do what the elderly population/government thinks is right to save them - the vulnerable - which I think is so totally wrong!  It seems to me that you all just want to save your own skins - just listen to yourselves.

Oh and if the government rules/regs/guidance is so good then no contradictions to opening Primary schools then on 4 January - they must know what they are doing.

Oh my goodness! Don't bring the government into this, when did they ever know what's good for us?
I personally am practising self preservation, as would anyone. But I also have a conscience, if I was to pass on a deadly virus to someone, I'd be mortified.
So, once again, common sense is what motivates me.
And of course the vulnerable need to be protected, no matter what age.
But I must say, with age comes wisdom!
