Fountain family in Buckinghamshire?
« on: Tuesday 29 December 20 18:44 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

Have a complicated search.

I match a Stevens [my mother's unmarried name] but we don't appear to be directly connected. However, my mother descended from Fountains on one side of her tree, and my distant Stevens cousin '1' has Fountains in her tree.

Both my (mum's) Fountains & my cousin's had ancestors in Holborn, London; but my cousin's Fountains hail from Denham in Buckinghamshire, while a different dna-match cousin '2' of mine has Fountains also in Buckinghamshire, about 25 miles north of Denham.

So I was wondering if there is common ancestry here? But I can't get back beyond ancestors who are already known, so it's a brick wall - can anyone help please?

Cousin '1's earliest Fountain is:-

Edward Fountain snr bc 1770 - d.1861 born in Holborn, married
Sarah Weatherby, 1770-1822, Holborn.

son

Edward Fountain, 1789-, b. Denham Bucks, married
Harriet Morten, 1789-, Denham Bucks.

------------------------------------------

The Fountains in my cousin '2's tree are located at Stoke Hammond & Cheddington, approximately 25 miles from Denham & their age dates range from about 1629 to 1777, so slightly earlier than cousin '1'.

I'm wondering if these Denham - Stoke Hammond Fountains were related at an earlier stage?

Many thanks :)

Many kind thanks, Rosie -

Have an Edward Fountain Sr.
1770–1861
BIRTH ABT 1770 • Holborn, Middlesex, England
DEATH 23 FEB 1861 • Middlesex, England.

This is the ancestor of my cousin's Edward Fountain jnr, for some stange reason these Fountains appear to be coming to London then moving north - to Middlesex & Buckinghamshire for my cousin's branch, but up into Essex for mine. Members of both branches are in Holborn in the 18th century, mine marry Doyle - born in London - but a well-known Irish surname; but I can't trace her beyond London.

We Fountains were Huguenots, we must all be related - this must be my Stevens cousin's Fountains, but I can't join anything up at the moment. My Fountains settled in Essex on Barkingside & became market gardeners.

The death of Edward Fountain - Uxbridge reg district gives his age as 72 which does not tie in with your details, do you have the death certificate  :-\

Many thanks,

He's not my Fountain - he's in the tree of a distant dna cousin - so he's not verified. He would appear to be the father of Edward Fountain (jnr) in the tree of my distant Stevens cousin from Yiewsley in Middlesex. My direct-line Fountains were in Barking, Essex.
