Censuses covered in another thread ...

That thread also mentions the marriage record for son James

So we've been wasting our time again.

I don’t think this is fair at all. As a beginner on these threads you get told in the FAQ and guides to ensure you post in the correct place, and certainly I tried to do so by ONLY asking for help deciphering the faded writing on this OP. And some pp have been kind enough to do so. Neal asked me above if it had helped and I thought I had been courteous in replying to his question in that it was useful to have the deciphering but I would need to look for the father another way, later on.

I did not ask for anyone to spend anymore time trying to track the family on this thread. I only asked for deciphering of the marriage record to see if there were any clues there not available on the typed records. I’ve often been advised to look at the originals to get clues on witnesses and signatures.

I was polite and courteous and said thank you and that I would look for the father later on.

And now you’ve accused me of wasting your time. It’s got to the stage now where I am scared to post in case someone attacks me for posting. I don’t think that is what this forum is supposed to be about. Doing this as a hobby as a beginner is not easy : there is a lot to learn and to remember and as a chemotherapy patient I don’t always remember everything. It’s not nice to attack people for wasting your time “again” when I have only asked for help with deciphering the faded writing on here.

I apologise for upsetting you.
I agree that it is important to post the right kind of query on the right thread. But it would be helpful if you mentioned what you knew about the family already or provided a link to other threads you have running on the same people, to avoid duplication of effort.

Alls good nicdigby.

Sometimes I get carried away and add more than was requested.

Also a Tree had the wrong Census (1861 when he was already deceased) and death reg for George Crew.
Looking at the Tree he would be 10 when he married!

Trish :)

Thanks Trish, yes I realsied the person's ancestry tree was wrong but I am struggling to pick out the correct info! There is more info on my other thread about it (link above).
