My ancestor William Headon said he was born in Baltinglass, Co Wicklow around 1812/1814.
He was married to Julia/Judith Darcy around 1833.
Their first born child was Bridget Headon born in Chatham, England (Im assuming Kent?) although no baptism has been found.
In the early 1830s he arrived in Sydney, Australia as a private with the "Queens Own".
Their next child was born in Sydney, NSW, Australia and named Elizabeth Headon.
His regiment was being shipped out to India when he purchased his leave due to his wifes poor health.
Further children were born in Sydney.

Julia died in 1853.
In 1866 he married again to Sophia Hooley and had more children

Sophia died in 1882.
The newspaper story of Williams death indicated he died alone in 1884. No mention of his children which may indicate they were orphans or raised by their older siblings.
William was Catholic and the Baltinglass records show baptisms from 1812 but I cant read the baptisms from the NLI registers to confirm this. I can read the marriages but cannot find one for him from 1832 to 1835.
Ive looked at FindMyPast and cannot find a record either but can find deaths of other Headons in Baltinglass.
Any suggestions about how to find more info as we have nothing about his family. In the marriages there were no Headons only Heydons.
I have found a military record for William to confirm he was in the Queens own which were based in Kent in the 1830s. Perhaps he got married there. Regimental number 930. I havent found his enlistment record
