Thanks in advance.

The Cap Badge looks like WW2  Royal Fusiliers.

Just checked WW1 Royal Fusiliers Cap Badge as well as WW2....your picture resembles the one of my grandfather from WW1.

Thanks, I have it dated as 1914 so I think it's definitely WW1. I've found a couple of Alfred Ernest Parsons in the records who were in the Royal Fusiliers, unfortunately not an actual service record.

Note you can also see the RF on his epaulettes. If he was a Territorial there would be a T above. That might help narrow down the individual from the several you have. No guarantees, though.
Good luck.

British khaki service dress uniforms did not usually include collar-badges during the First World War (they were used on officers uniforms and by some empire forces such as Canada & Australia).

Collar badges were used between the wars, and further based on the composition of the photo I would suggest this picture actually dates to some time in the 1930s.

Thanks very much. The photo was dated 1914, I'm not sure who by? But I do have another Alfred Ernest Parsons in my tree (the original's nephew) and he was born in 1915. I also have a wedding cake card from his marriage in 1943 which has Capt. A. E. Parsons on it. So going by your replies  the date I have for that photo is completely wrong and is probably from the mid yo late 30s.

Thanks to everybody.
