Mayo or Maye?
« on: Monday 04 January 21 20:59 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I initially thought Mayo, but the baptisms for her children have her down as May, which might mean the surname is in fact Maye.

I’d appreciate any help!

Thanks! I wasn’t sure if it was just the way ‘o’ was written.

I must say that I had never heard of the name Maye but the Internet has:

Maye is a somewhat popular first name for females. Internet.

Spellchecker allowed the name without the need for correction.

Apparently it’s a surname found in Ireland, as Julia’s children were all christened as Catholics, and her husband’s surname was Sands.
