Relative who appears to have two locations of death
« on: Monday 04 January 21 23:04 GMT (UK) »
I have the death registration for my 3 x great uncle who died aged 37 in 1910. His mother registered his death stating he died at 4 Maryland Buildings, Glasgow. I have hunted high and low for this location and have come back with nothing. His death was registered in Pollockshields.

I have found his burial at Craigton Cemetery. On his burial details it says ‘died at 1561 Paisley Road’. He was buried in common ground. I am assuming it should say Paisley Road West?

Why would there be two different locations of death? Was Maryland Buildings on Paisley Road West?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you

You are on the right lines  ;) From the 1882 Glasgow Post Office Directory:

Maryland Buildings, halfway, Paisley road,
Govan.
https://archive.org/stream/postofficeannual188283gla/postofficeannual188283gla_djvu.txt

Or, from 1911-12:
Maryland Buildings, Govan.
BEE NUMBERS 1555 TO 1561
PAISLEY ROAD, WEST, HALF-
WAY, GOVAN.
https://digital.nls.uk/directories/browse/archive/90524790?mode=transcription

The reference to Halfway connects with this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halfway,_Glasgow (numerous links on this on google).

On the 1915 Vrs there are no records for Maryland Buildings but there are tenants listed at 1561 Paisley Road.
