Yes this is the husband of Matilda both born in Liverpool. DNA matches and trees in America both confirm that this is the correct Matilda. I also noticed mother identified a BAILEY but wondered whether this was an error for Bealy? I haven't got the full version of Ancestry but there do seem to be indications that Helena travelled to PA .

According to the 1900 US census Reed Street Philadelphia Ward 1, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - The family immigrated 1888. Three children born England.

Just for info the George Waters present in 1851 was baptised as George Baillie Waters 19 Jan 1834 - at St Anne's Shankill.

Mother's name shown as Ellen Baillie this time! So he was given his mother's maiden name as a middle name.

However the mother was clearly Ellen Baillie (or variant!) John MAY have re-married after her death - but Matilda's mother does seem to have been this particular Ellen and maybe the pronunciation of the name when registering Matilda's death caused a mis-spelling to Helena Bealy.

There is a baptism entry in St Barnabus Church, Liverpool on Sept 5th 1849 for a Robert Waters, son of John, a Joiner and Eleanor Waters. Abode Newhall St.

There is also a burial entry for Eleanor Waters, aged 35 - abode Newhall St -- on 19 Aug 1849 - St Mary's Liverpool (she was buried in that cemetery.

I am wondering if this is Matilda's mother. The husband's name fits, as does his occupation of Joiner.
Robert - the youngest son was baptised the month after his mother's death for some reason - but of course she is still shown as his mother on his baptism record.

The abode for both events is the same.

That's great many thanks. I wonder whether Eleanor died in childbirth? It sounds like John Waters was a journeyman Ships joiner traveling from Belfast to Liverpool. Not found a wedding date yet for Eleanor and John.
