Hi…I am new to RootsChat but have been researching the Kendall/Hoare family for 40+ years and have much to share in relation to your discussions below. Is it best for you to ask questions about specific people or lines or certain time periods, or…? My most recent finds are for Alfred Henry Hoare, affectionately known to us as Unkie and his mother Sarah Ann Burchett Hoare. At the age of 23, Unkie was imprisoned in Wandsworth Prison in London, England for stealing food. He was later placed on a Philanthropic farm called Redhill in Surrey and from their transported to Wawota, Saskatchewan to finish his 9-year term on a farm for boys there. They finally released information for me about Sarah who was placed in an asylum for alcoholism and delirium in 1907. She died there in 1924. Meanwhile, I believe I have found her husband who had left for Canada some time before. He remarried in Stratford, Perth, Ontario and had another child. Daughter Bessie arrived there shortly after this birth so I believe they must have stayed in touch. I always wondered why a single woman would have been the first of this family to come alone to Canada. I believe I have also found brother John Wm. Hoare through his Canadian Expeditionary Force Military file. Lots more and hoping to learn from others. I am descended from Elijah and Emma Kendall. Shirley
