Witness at 1842 marriage

Can someone please work out what the first witness's name is? At first look I thought it was Shamor or something similar but maybe it could be Thomas. The 's' in Roberts looks like the last letter in the first name.

They look like actual signatures rather than registrar entries, so the similarity doesn't really matter.

Looks like James Siptrot to me.

Witnesses:  Thomas Roberts and James Liptrot.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!

James LIPTROT was witness at both marriages on the page, the census records him as Parish Clerk.
