I don't know if you can tell whether it is a will or administration :-\

I was just going to say "Wrong part of Achill perhaps?" !!
My fault. :(
There seem to be a few Martin Fadians that have lived on Achill Island.

The probate calendars go to 1982, could check the last few.

I don't know if you can tell whether it is a will or administration :-\

Look at the column headed 'Grant and Date of Appl.'
If it has a 'P', it's Probate.
If it has an 'I' it's Intestate.

If a person dies without making a will, he/she is described as ‘intestate’. In this case, the court can grant ‘letters of administration’ which appoints administrators to administer the estate of the intestate.

Thank you KG, very illuminating.
I see it now that you have pointed out what to look for!

Yes heywood, we know now where all the Martin Fadians are to be found.

Hi. Thank you all so much for trying to help me. The Martin Fadian that died in 1969 could be the grandfather. I found a family that seemed to fit and the head was Martin and wife Nora. The Martin I m looking for was born 1904/05 and was alive in 1980s.i did nt realise what a common name it was there. You have given me a few links to work through. I'm very grateful to you all

Do you have other records for him and just searching his death?
The 1911 I posted earlier has a 7 yr old Martin in Salia-  the only one. His parents are Michael and Ann
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Mayo/Achill/Salia/743631/

This is his birth
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1905/01769/1696397.pdf

Did he marry?
Did he stay in Salia?
