I really canít understand why so many people find it so difficult to wear a mask for the short time they are shopping or as someone else said there are visors available if you have problems.

I agree 100%.

When I was in the RAF we would often have to wear a gas mask for days at a time.

Eating and drinking - 3 quick lungfuls, exhale fully, inhale fully, at same time ready food or drink, lift mask, swiftly drink or take mouthful, lower mask, chew and swallow, exhale with force, 3 standard breaths then repeat.

Showering - Hold mask on face with non-dominant hand, pull straps forward off back of head while keeping mask in place, wet head and apply shampoo, wash hair and rinse, pull straps back and shower normally keeping mask out of the spray.

Brushing teeth - Like eating and drinking.

Shaving - That is an adventure! But necessary, 2 days of beard growth will break the mask seal.

Sleeping - Modified recovery position, try not to sleep on back.

In fact I had sex on two occasions, wearing only a gas mask - what a hopeless romantic I was in those days!

And today people can't wear a piece of tissue paper, that weighs nothing, for the short while it takes to buy a packet of cigarettes. I despair!

Regards

Chas

Mask wearing in shops round here is pretty much 100%

The Health Secretary said it was better to give up smoking. Fortunately, I've never smoked.

Chas, you've made me laugh out loud regarding romance in a mask  ;D  ;D Thanks  :)

Take care, Mark

Very informative, Chas  ;)

My husband has just returned from an errand and I asked if he had seen anyone we know.
He replied, ĎYes, I saw the man without a maskí. We regularly see this man and donít know why he doesnít but I do know he has been poorly in the past. We just steer clear of him when we see him.

Yes. She was a girlfriend, SACW, WRAF, RAF Marham, mid 1982. We were both over 18.

I said it to illustrate that strenuous activity can still be undertaken while wearing a mask.

I seem to remember that in moments of passion the resounding Klang of gas mask filter canisters striking each other could be heard. Ah Youth, where have you gone?
