On Page 65 of 209 : Bristol England, Bristol Temple (right in the left hand corner at the top - part of the page not photographed is says in the transcript on Ancestry

Name: Purnell
Gender: Gemale
Event : Baptism 1779-1784

parents: William and Grace

-

..... original says : daughter of William and Grace PURNELL

----

I was trying to read the witnesses to Ann PURNELL's first marriage to William MANN in 1802 and could just about read Hester ....... then John ANGEL - who seems to witness a few weddings.

Then looking at her second marriage to George HILL in 1802 - James SWEET was a witness - and then realise it's Hester SWEET - who witnessed her first marriage.

I always though Ann was Ann Mann,we had found her marriage listing when we went to Bristol archives. It wasnt until Ancestry put all the records on that i realized she had been married twice. She had two little boys by William. One of her sons, grew up got married and had a son,who married one of the daughters of Grace Hill(from her second marriage)Its so complicated.I wrote to Bristol archives to see if they could find a death for William. They couldnt, said he could have been a sailor who was lost at sea,so another mystery.Thank you for your helpGlenysI will investigate Hester.

Just having another look for you.....

When William PURNELL - (Yeoman) - married Grace KEFFELL by Licence at Bristol, St james - 5 May 1776, witnesses: George WOOKEY and Thos KNIGHT.  William PURNEL signed his name, but Grace just marked with an X - so she couldn't read.

---

There is a Long Ashton, Somerset, 1778 -

Mr George WOOKEY Snr of this Parish, (Farmer) - marrying Charity WICKHAM - witnesses, William STEVENS and George WOOKEY Jnr.

These is also an Abraham PURNALL married Sarh PRIGG - on the same page (35 of 39)

---

Somerset England Marriage Register - - at Burrington

George WOOKEY of this Parish, Batchelor,
Betty CAPELL - of this Parish, Spinster -  (again signed with an X)

4 May 1773

??? is there an outside chance, Betty CAPELL (might be a KEFFLE)

There is a Public Members Tree on Ancestry for Betty CAPPELL/CAPEL/CAPLE marrying George WOOKEY
