Birthplace - "Lindow Chorley RD"

I have a birth location as "Lindow Chorley RD". The birth is in 1903 and the father is unknown. I was expecting a workhouse birth but the Wilmslow Workhouse located at the edge of Lindow Common closed during the 19th Century. Can anyone help clarify as to what "Lindow Chorley RD" means please? The registration district was Macclesfield and the sub-district Alderley. Could it be as simple as Chorley Road, Lindow and if so where was this please?

"RD" probably means Rural District?
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Thank you. Lindow End is spot on for this family and Rural District is the term that has been escaping me all afternoon. The story that this person was adopted from the workhouse seems to be a red herring now as she was brought up/adopted by her great aunt and uncle and her mother (who married and had more children) was in the area all the time too but she never knew. Seems like a cover up for a 16 year old falling pregnant.

Cover-ups for illegitimate births was not unknown - then or even now!  But glad to have been of help  :)
