I understand that & I'm not complaining I just want other people's ideas to see what they think.  Two heads or more are always better than one!   I just don't like giving up because somewhere there may be an answer to it & so I persevere.   So I'll see what I can come up with for Tirat.  I think the 2nd letter is I not E as I believe I can see a dot above it.
Thanks for taking time to write again.

FindMyPast has 2 entries for Thomas Betwizel and Rachel ?
The Parish register entry (image previously posted) is transcribed as "Sirat". However, the Bishops' transcript  has been transcribed as "Firat". Checking the 1st character of Sarah's surname against other entries on the Bishops' transcripts I would plump for "T" - certainly not "S"..
There are plenty examples of "S" and "T" to compare - eg. the place name "Tarvin"

Thanks hanes teulu,  I have had a good look at those with your suggestion & believe it could be a T especially comparing it to the Thomas of the vicar's name & the Thomas of the Church warden at the bottom of the page.   So I'll see what I can find for T this morning & let you know.    I'm in Canada hence the time change!
Thanks again, Amberly.

I did find the name "Tarrat" in nearby "Tarpoley" but couldn't rustle up a Rachel link.
Best of luck.

I've been searching whenever I have had spare time & have found Joseph Tarrat of Tarporley & a Joshua m in 1770 to an Ann Hancock in Barthomley  & a Rachel Tarrat buried in Nottingham in 1780 but we know Rachel was m in 1773 so by 1780 would no longer be Tarrat but Boswell.  There were 2 families named Sarrat in the 1500's fathered by either John or Roger of Mouldsworth, Tarvin with numerous children, but no Rachel to be found.  I even tried Parrat & found an Anne P b 1595 in Tarvin d/o John.  Sadly that's all I could come up with.   Anyone with any other ideas, please??  Although they m & d in Tarvin they may not have come from there!  Thanks to everyone for all their suggestions but haven't totally given up but not sure what to do next.  Amberly.
