LM - that’s terrible that someone could do that to a neighbour and be so unkind when they’re not doing anything wrong... I’m sure your neighbours know it’s not you.... as Roobarb says hope you can catch her in the street to talk..

Do hope Viktoria hadn’t got to stand out in the rain and is back home soon... thinking about her too..

Rosie- as you say what would we do without online ordering... it’s worked very well for us too... I’ve managed to get spaced out online food ones too... first delivery on Saturday had c n c before...
hope it’s dryer by the time you go out with your dog!
Look forward to being able to go back to Kew at some point with the family!

OFG - it does seem a bit hit and miss with the vaccinations - so far I know two over 90’s who’ve had both jabs and several over 80’s in various parts of the country so will keep fingers crossed for your mum...
It’s also a very drench day here too!

I am thinking of you Viktoria. 

Nothing of note happened on my Wednesday. Spent the day at daughter’s house dog sitting, and doing some washing, a bit of tidying etc. (keeps me occupied). Dog was a very good girl. I think she has some allergies - keeps nibbling her paws. Might have to get tested to determine what is causing it.  I am fairly sure it is related to grasses, seeds, or some such. We are awaiting some spray from the vet which is out of stock, and has been for some time. I must ring them to check when they expect it to arrive.

Rosie I remember asking about your pup some time ago... I thought it looked like a springer spaniel but you said it is a cocker. Lovely little thing.

There was much discussion here about the vaccinations and which is most effective, etc etc ....

The recent UK covid cases here all lead back to guests in quarantine on one floor of a hotel. They can’t work out the origin though. All returned travellers currently staying in that hotelhave been moved, and need to start another two weeks quarantine. Oh dear.

Took my dog for her usual walk, a late one and a long one - no embarrassing happenings on the walk thank goodness.

Caroline, glad to hear the boiler has been serviced .. hopefully by the next time it  needs done we might all be in a much better situation re covid.

Louisa Maud - not a nice thing to have happened.  I can understand you feeling sad and uncomfortable about this. It is a shame too that the police have had their time wasted on such an investigation when they must have much more important things to attend to right now.

Ruskie - hope it can be found out soon what the dog's allergy is.

Good luck Victoria with the jab!  Do tell all soon .. I'm sure you will!  I have read that 21 million doses are now on British soil!

My diary:

Didn't feel like a very positive day.  It was another day off but I felt a bit deflated straightaway when I looked outside and saw that the weather looked dismal unlike the previous sunny day.  After this, I just felt low on motivation all day.  It was one of those days when you think about what you'd like to do but can't do or what you should do but can't be bothered to.
I did think of going for a walk but the cold put me off.  Went on RC.  Did some laundry.  Pottered about.  Thought about making some carrot and orange soup but didn't.
Read my latest book.  I don't really like one of the main characters.  Almost feel like giving up on account of this but I am a third of the way through so I might as well persevere.
Read news that children have been getting substandard meal packages.  I think the example photo published of a food package doesn't look very appetising and is meagre.  It does sound like various campaigners are on the case though, so hopefully things will get rectified soon.
I contacted one of the 'elders' at the Church rather than my Church friend to find out more about our Pastor who has recently left. 
It turns out that some emails have gone astray.  This 'elder' has told me that the ceremony will take place on Saturday where his new Church will welcome and pray for him and our Church will be invited to watch via zoom.
This made me feel a bit in the doldrums again to think that we have now lost our great Pastor of many years.  I'll just have to try and get over it.  A while back I was doing war history research and one person I found myself researching for a local war group was a Pastor who had been at our very Church in WW1.  Apparently, this vicar was a great mover and a shaker and had done so many wonderful things for the soldiers especially who lived in or passed through our area.  Then apparently, he just upped and left too.  I remember when I did that research and read through all he had done and how much people had benefitted from his service that it must have felt like a huge blow when he left.  I didn't suspect though that we in today's times would all soon find ourselves in the same boat.  Funny sometimes how history seems to repeat itself.  Oh well, that's life I suppose.

Good Morning all
A terrible morning here, more rain, now there's a change and it is very windy

My neighbour has to go 10 miles away for his vaccination, no one else to take him and no provision made, he was 90 yesterday so he has asked me to take him, not sure if I should but what can one do?, I have told him he will have to wear a mask and so will I

I am writing my neighbour a letter but it is sad with all that is  going on someone feels fit to complain, I can't see cars at her house so I can't imagine there was a stream of traffic, we only live in a small drive

So sorry for your loss Pheno, sad times all round, I even heard a Priest say that he has done so many funerals it is emotionally draining but we have to keep our faith, whatever it is

I was all jolly, getting home at a couple of minutes ago ,wanted to say how easy it all was,saw posts and read them,thank you all very much ,but first my
sympathy to Pheno, do let us know what arrangements you are allowed to make for her funeral,,perhaps you are not her next of kin?

Well son arrived a bit “soon” ,thinking of the normal heavy traffic.
We were at The Civic Hall, just after nine.
Told to wait in car in car park until 9-20.( appt 9-30)
I went in and smooth passage through and all done and dusted  including the rest time of 15 minutes, and back in the car for 10-15.
Home with a cuppa.
There were gazebos to shelter us from the rain but only waited there for about five minutes.Less than an hour actually waiting.

Mind you, I did not get a lolly! 
It is done very high up almost on the round of your shoulder to get the maximum into the deltoid muscle .
I was chatting with our Dr, who was helping and we said how really there needs to be a warning that we who have had the vaccine must still remember
to stay in.we are protected, but that does not mean we can do what we like .
I had the Pfizer BioNtech one .
I thought as we were waiting how hard a small group of us, an offshoot of our Heritage Society had fought tooth and nail to save our  Civic  Hall from being sold by Bury Council for offices,We won!

Cheerio for now and thanks again for your kind thoughts and my thoughts are with you,especially Pheno and Louisa Maude.

PPs. Sometimes dogs nibble their paws when bored but I have to say it is  most  often as you think an allergy or irritation from grass seeds etc,they sometimes can even get under the skin.

Thank you RTL and LM for your sympathy.  Perhaps you can understand why I was so incensed yesterday to read of lockdown breaches when my aunt was struggling in hospital.  Her, her partner (who did not live in) and her son (who lives with his own family in a different household) were all hospitalised with the infection in the first week of January.  My cousin is due to be discharged today having made a recovery, as you know my aunt died overnight and her partner died last week!

What a tragedy, which might have been prevented.  They did not socialise at christmas and did not put themselves at risk, but still they all caught it.  With hindsight it might have been a blessing if they had got together at christmas - it being their last.

I know the infection can be passed on in any number of ways (I know a lot of you are terrified at the thought of catching it from delivered groceries) but I cannot condone breaches of lockdown rules designed to keep everyone safe.

That's it - am too agitated to say any more, having said my piece, but I just hope that some, if not all, take it to heart and just think how you and yours might be affected.  Please take care.

Modified in response to Viktoria's post whilst I was posting.  She has 2 sons, each with their own families and a twin sibling - with whom she shared a divided house - again with family so I would think that is probably the quota for funeral attendance.  Not at all sure I would venture into London to attend a covid funeral in the current climate, seeing as how I am in a vulnerable category too.  Thanks, for asking.

Mind you, I did not get a lolly! 

My husband had his first vaccination on Christmas Eve, I had told my neighbour the day before, we often laugh when we have any jabs now that we don't get a smartie, that is what they gave out wHen I was a child, so my lovely neighbour sent in 4 lollies, surely he wasn't going to cry for that long !!!, but it made us laugh, gotta have a sense of humour

Glad all went smoothly with your jab Viktoria. The discussions here have been saying that the Pfizer is the better vaccine (90% odd effective) whereas we have ordered more doses of the Astra Zeneca vaccine and have licence to produce it here (62%) - lots of experts consulted to give their opinions.

Yes,dogs often nibble and lick due to boredom, but her feet are inflamed. Vet has prescribed the spray which is out of stock, so hopefully once that comes in it will help temporarily. Vet suggested allergy tests then possibly meds or immunotherapy. Dogs - what a worry they are.

Sorry you didn’t get a lolly ..... I’m sure you’re not worried about your neighbour... bullies never win in the end, they’re just sad people who lack moral fibre and don’t get as much out of life as they could by being nasty...you’re a feisty lady ...

RTL- think we all have days like that but sure you need the rest with your exhausting travel and work schedules...
I hope you’re right about the number of vaccines in the country... more and more centres being opened up too as well as pharmacies.... two doctor friends who are retired have both volunteered to become vaccinators...
Am I right in saying that once a Pastor/Vicar has made a success of an area they are then moved on to pastures new where there is work to be done... I seem to remember that happening to one in the Isles of Scilly and the congregation were left reeling  and so was he but that’s how the Church works.... could that be the reason for both your Pastors moving do you think?
I’m sure your new one will be a breath of fresh air... in my experience sometimes when someone leaves you think the bottom has fallen out and then are pleasantly surprised with the new person and all faith is restored..
