Hello all,

If a 50 year old male was listed as an "Outfitter" in the England 1861 census in the county of Surrey, what type of work would they have done ?

The 1841 census coding  groups it as 'clothes dealer  and outfitter'

The term perhaps seems antiquated but is still in use today. Here’s an example of a “Gentleman’s Outfitters”:

As far as I can remember it was always a 'Gentleman's outfitter'   ;D
