Hello,
I have hit another stumbling block.
Ann Dixon (according to the census) was born in Kendal in 1826. She married Joseph Peet, a woollen dyer in 1847.
Her father was John Dixon.
I can find a baptisms for Ann in 1826 in Kendal with parents John and Mary.
I cannot find the family in 1841 at all. In 1851 John Dixon (aged either 44 or 74) born Dalton in Furness, an assistant dyer lived near Ann and Joseph with his wife Mary (aged 66) born Kendal and his grandson John aged 8. This I think could be Ann's parents.
The Grandson in John is the illegitimate son of Mary Dixon born a1820. She married George Graveson and the John and Mary (senior) (widowed) are living with them in Kendal in 1861.
So to sum up, I think Ann's parents were John and Mary and that she had a sister called Mary.
I cannot find a likely marriage for John and Mary and therefore can't find Mary's maiden name so frustratingly can't get any further with my research. If I could find them in 1841 and see their children it would be a start.
Can any help?
Regards
B
