Blyth Doughty Help needed
« on: Tuesday 19 January 21 16:53 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone

So I am having difficulty tracing my 2nd great granduncle (also his father my 3rd g grandfather - already a thread on roots chat - https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=760724.0 - Ive made significant progress with some of his nefarious character but never located him  ancestry story - https://www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tree/person/tree/162972028/person/422118981262/facts).

Anyway William Blyth was born 10th Feb 1857, Green Lane, Flixton, his father John Truswell Doughty listed as a warehouse man and his mother Annie Robson Doughty. In 1861 census he is listed as William Blyth Doughty as living with my 4th g grandfather William Doughty and aunt Selina in St John's Yoirkshire (Langold). Then he vanishes. No one can find a trace of him and he would be 14 by the 1871 census.

With his father JTD vanishing, im thinking its possible he vanished with his father but Ive never found any trace of William Blyth on further census records at all with the family. My 2nd great grandfather - William's brother was born a year after William. Of course, its possible he passed but I cant be sure.

Could anyone lend a fresh pair of eyes please. Tysm x

Birthplace Manchester on that census?  And living Nottinghamshire?

Or have I the wrong census  :-[  William and Selina are on it.

I think you have the right census record Milliepede - living at Langold, St Johns, Worksop, Yorkshire

Why Yorkshire I have no idea, I always thought Worksop was Nottinghamshire.

Langold appears to be part of Letwell which is on the boundary of Yorkshire & Nottinghamshire. The parish of St John is actually in S Yorkshire. Hence both York & Notts on the census
