Anctry subscription
« on: Wednesday 20 January 21 12:37 GMT (UK) »
I am in a quandary.

I have been a member of Anctry for several years and have a well researched tree/trees with them.

Hubby has less work right now, I am retired so not earning and my subscription is due in a few weeks.

It is so expensive to keep going but they do not account for penniless oldies at this time.

I might let it go for a while, make my trees private so people have to message me to obtain my research and see what I can do by myself.
As someone pointed out on here before, rootschatters can always help out.
What do you think?

Thankyou Sandra,
I am in Australia and currently have the world heritage choice due to my family coming from All over the world.
Is not 20pounds a month equal to $40 for subs?
At that rate it would not be any cheaper I think???

Not sure where you are getting 20 pounds per month from.

There are loads of threads on ancestry renewals - here is a recent one which is worth reading. Especially the pieces re renewals for Australia

Remember there are lots of free sites you can use as well, such as FamilySearch, FreeBMD, FreeCen and FreeReg. You may also find information by Googling.

A person in one group that I belonged to has claimed they have built their tree without spending much money at all - they have used all the above sites and taken advantage of the free weekends offered by the subscription site. They said it has taken longer but has certainly improved their research skills.
