At that time people who lived in and around the 'Abbey Park' area of properties  which were flagged to be pulled down ( most of it never happened) but the people were offered new homes the opposite side of the city on the Saffron Hill estate and the Eyes Monsell estate

That’s true about the slum houses and the new council estate but the Tates were living in their house at Vernon road when they died- it still exists. Shudder. To think the current occupants live there not knowing a two day old baby was suffocated there. I’d move out.

I was thinking of the other cemeteries. My babcia lived on east park road in Leicester but is buried at Oadby cemetery so who knows. I wouldn’t even know where to start looking.

Thank you for these replies!

Saffron Hill was indeed lucky, I have the records for that cemetery and they are, indeed there. There’s actually two plots, one is misspelt and George Arthur Tate is in the record as Tete for whatever reason. Neither graves have a headstone. I don’t live in Leicester but I got a friend to go and have a look for me and she photographed the plots.

Now I only have Ada Spicer to find! This group is wonderful.

I still had the Welford Road file open so I've just filtered on Tate & Vernon Road, and there's also this one:

Unconsecrated A 236 - 18 Sep 1896 Jane Tate aged 4 days of Vernon Road

I was wondering if it gives a house number for Vernon road?
