The islands were known for 'Homers' being sent there from the mainland, usually Glasgow & surrounding areas although it may not be the case here?

Norman's usual residence is Knockard, Barvas.

Location seems correct.

The other marriages on the page were recorded normally with the parents names etc, I do not think that the names have faded as I note another user helpfully posted the 'contrasted' image. I suppose they both could have been orphans but it seems unlikely that they both did not know their parents? More research needed!

Thank you for the census information, I am going to get on to that next.

I only know one of their children who is my ancestor. Her name is Christina "Christy" Morrison, nee Maclean. She was born around 1871.

1871 Census, Norman Mclean    second from top

I believe I may have found the census for the family in 1871. The writing is very hard for me to read as I am not experienced with reading these old documents.
It lists Norman as 36 years old, Ann (I think??) as 35, a daughter who is 19 and what to me looks like "Christy" or "Christina" aged 2.

Can anyone help? You are all so brilliant, thank you so much.

Does anyone need me to post the file in a different format or should i crop it and post as an image? Not sure if that PDF is easy to read!
