Albert Wood Ballincollig Cork 1914
« on: Thursday 21 January 21 00:48 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I am trying to find the records of Albert Wood he was a British Soldier stationed in Ballincollig Cork Ireland in 1914, he was born around 1896 given a year or two he Married an Anne Kelleher in 1914 in Cork and it was stated he was a minor (under the age of 21 ) at the time, his father was Edward Wood.
I cant seem to find anything for him, I believe the 24th brigade of the Royal Fiels Artillery were based in Ballincollig at that time .
Thanks

According to their war diary this is correct.
That's the easy bit.
You can imagine how many Albert Woods there were in the RFA so we need to filter
it with any other info you have on him.
Was there a middle name ?
Were there any children during the war years?
Did he survive?
The diary states that 24 Bde. disembarked in France Sept. 10 1914 so he would have been
a recipient of the 14 Star.
These are published with the disembarkation date & there is no Albert Wood receiving the 14 Star with that date.
There may be a reason for this, he may have been held back & gone at a later date
or he wasn't in the 24th. Bde.

Thanks Jim,
I know he Married my Grt grt Aunt Anne on 26th April 1914 in Cork, all I can see from the civil marriage cert is that his father was Edward wood, Albert was stationed in Ballincollig as this was stated as an address for him this is all I know, really hoping to trace Albert as I know from Family that they never knew Anne was married , I'm wondering would he have died young ?
Kind regards
