Manchester Buildings, Parish of St John & James, Chelsea 1871
« on: Thursday 21 January 21 13:55 GMT (UK) »
I have found my Grt Grt Grandfather Alfred Hopkins and Family (including my Grt Grandfather, Frederick) residing at 5 Manchester Building, Kensington & Chelsea on the 1871 census.
Alfred was a Law stationer.
I have tried searching for a map and a picture of the address but have hit a brick wall.
Could anyone help?
I would like to see how the building looks today and its location.
Thankyou in advance

Have you looked for the route taken by the census enumerator?  That should give you a list of the various streets and hopefully help you to pinpoint roughly where Manchester Buildings were.

There has been redevelopment in that area and it could be that the building no longer exists.  It might be worth looking here:

Hi
If you look at page 77 ( Hopkins = page 79 ) then you will find SILCHESTER ROAD. ( general direction LANCASTER PLACE [ ROAD / COURT ] )

Or Grenfell Tower.
