Help finding a document please
« on: Thursday 21 January 21 18:00 GMT (UK) »
I have found a newspaper article which reads:

12 March 1887 • Warrington, Cheshire

"I Robert Ditchfield decline to hold myself responsible for any debt my wife Annie Ditchfield may contract after this date."

Can anyone direct me to the source of this article please?  I assume it relates to an official signed document somewhere?

I have learned that Annie Ditchfield was arrested and imprisoned regularly for theft.

All help appreciated.

Many thanks

Not necessarily any legal document.
The declaration in the newspaper is enough.

I've come across one of those in a Staffordshire newspaper too, same era.
I never found anything on a legal document though.

Thank you for your help.
I thought this newspaper article would have led to some interesting findings.

Annie was sentenced to 6 months hard labour on 7 March 1889 for false pretences.

She gave birth to their son, Edward Donald Ditchfield in Knutsford Prison the same month & in 1891 they were living together with the rest of the family.  I have lost track of Annie after that & Robert remarried in 1897 so I assume she had died.
