Hitting a dead end with great grandfathers parents and ancestors??
« on: Thursday 21 January 21 18:53 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

I am currently researching my great grandfather but unfortunately I have hit a dead end with his parents.

His name was Alfred Day (B. 30.6.1891 in Deptford, Middlesex, England) and he was a soldier in Canada in WW1. On his attestation papers his next of kin is listed as a Mrs Margaret Day but I can't find anything to say this is his mother and later on his next of kin is listed as Joannah Spencer who was his wife.

Hopefully the attachment of his attestation paper has come through properly.

Thank you in advance for any information!

The attestation papers were dated 5/9/1914.

The 1911 census puts him as living at 3 Andom Terrace, Church Street, Deptford, London, but I am not entirely sure that this is the correct census.

I would recommend checking the marriage cert. for Albert Day to Joanna Spencer in 1918 to check for father’s names.
