I have had difficulty finding birth registrations for all of those Day children from the census (Post 16). For the few I found the Mother’s maiden name comes up as PERKINS.

Marriage 25 Dec 1876 St Mary, Rotherhithe, Southwark. (Anglican marriage)
James Day (22 Woodcutter) and Margaret Perkins (20 spinster) Both living close to each other in Osprey Street Rotherhithe.
His father – Henry Day, woodcutter
Her father George Perkins, Labourer
(Note the woodcutter employment is of interest as Margaret is in that employment in a later census, and also some of the children)

I have to go out now, so will let others continue the search.

Travelled to Canada in 1912 arrived Sept 29th a tailors cutter same occupation as on papers. Ship was the Corsican.

Just to add to his time line.

Tazzie

Which papers?  Wasn't he a dock labourer?

Looking at his attestation papers, page 2 which gives more information apparently he had a tattoo

"true love " and "Rose"  would this be a family member ?

Just a thought?

Think this is Johanna’s death

Deaths Sep 1964   (>99%)
DAY    JOHANNA    65    GREENWICH    5C   504

So born 1898.
