The 1939 register gives Alfred Day’s birth date as 30 June 1893. So on his military attestation papers there was either a clerical error, or Alfred lied about his birth year to make himself 2 years older (not uncommon).

This indicates Alfred is probably the son of James Day and Margaret Perkins (see census details at post #16) and (parents’ marriage details post $19).

Joseph’s sister Rosina Day (born 30 Oct 1881) married Charles White in 1903 Deptford. So this will be the Rosa White witness on the marriage of Joseph and Johanna in 1918.

Looks like this DAY family were in Deptford, Kent area for a few generations.
James Day was born there in 1854; baptised 19 Mar 1854 the son of Henry William DAY and Julia BRADLEY (married 1838 Newington, Southwark).

Henry William Day was born about 1815 Rotherhithe, buried/ cremated 6 Aug 1883 Lewisham London.

Yes, I saw that, but S does not make sense; possibly a mistake.

Have we got the right man?

I would have thought if he was Johanna's husband he would have been listed above her name

I found the Rose White marriage from the witnesses on a certificate

I would recommend checking the marriage cert. for Albert Day to Joanna Spencer in 1918 to check for father’s names.
I would still recommend this as the best course of action to Celticwarrior.
