Y/MT DNA
« on: Friday 22 January 21 19:03 GMT (UK) »
Hi

Does anybody know where I could buy a Y DNA and an MT DNA test on their own without an autosomal alongside as I have already took one?

Thanks

First that comes to mind is FTDNA:
https://www.familytreedna.com/

There are probably others.

They are expensive tests so maybe do some research so you know what to expect.

There have been many discussions on rootschat about the merits, or otherwise, of these tests.

When I took the tests they also had a Y-12 and a Y-67 test but appear to have removed those. The recommendation was the higher number of markers you test, the better, though you can pay to upgrade at a later date.

PM. For the Y. Buy 37 markers at a minimum to start. You can upgrade to more later without retesting. Cost is about 120 but they do go on sale regularly, especially around holidays (Valentines day is coming up).
