Lowns of Bedworth
« on: Sunday 24 January 21 16:50 GMT (UK) »
My cousin and I have recently stumbled on a Bedworth baptism for William Lowns b c 1780. We think he may be the same William who married Sarah Innocent in Mancetter in 1798. Very little is known about this William Lowns so all information on him is much appreciated.

Back to the baptism in Bedworth the parents are named as William Lownd and Ann Pignut.  We know that they married in Bedworth and that William died in 1822 in Bedworth- please can you help us with this? All help is much appreciated. Thank you in advance M

If born 1780 then William would be underage to Marry 1798 but the image of marriage does not say with parents permission :-\

Thank you all for your prompt responses. The baptisms clarify what we have researched so thank you for those.

I'm thinking Sarah also was underage as well. The pair of them had a child earlier on as well so William would have been a child himself. The problem we have is lack of William Lowns (all spellings around this time) thanks M

We have just checked this and as long as parents did not object to the banns being called they would not need consent and as they were Quakers they were exempt from the law M

You have William dying 1822.
Do you mean the one that married Sarah in 1798?

If so he was born c 1760.

Thanks no this is father to the one born in Bedworth who was b 1760 and died 1822. Its very confusing as you can imagine the one who married Sarah in 1798 in Mancetter also has a son called William and it is the Middle William we are trying to determine if he was the William b 1760s son. William who married Sarah is our top ancestor we are trying to locate a birth the nearest being William b to William Lowns and Ann Pignut in Bedworth in 1780. As previously said they were Quakers on both sides and Bedworth is around 7 miles from Mancetter so he seems to fit well. Sorry for the long winded response M

William Lown(d)s b 1760 Bedworth
*William Lown b 1780 Bedworth (possible William Lownds/Lounds married in 1798 in Mancetter)
William Lounds b 1794 in Mancetter

It goes on lol so its easy for us to get confused M
