« on: Monday 25 January 21 01:26 GMT (UK) »
My grandmother was born in 1923 ...baptism recorded at 2 berkeley road.. Berkeley parish...there was never a birth cert and was 'fostered by the maloneys in the city centre. the baptism cert says 'address of Baptised ' Rathbride, Kildare/Berkeley Road and was told she was named after her mother... I've posted on the kildare thread but if anyone could give me any advice please

Have you checked that one?

I think you mention nuns elsewhere, was that a mother and baby home at 2 Berkeley Road, Dublin?

Thanks for the reply ... supposedly it was part of the berkeley road parish ... it seems to be a type of mother and baby home for people who 'had money'

My mother did battle with one of the nuns there years ago just to get the baptism cert ...I have another copy that they wrote out in 1991

The address is 3 Berkeley Street according to the Baptism certificate.

Have you checked that birth registration?

Here are the Malones in 1911 at 3 Berkeley Street - could they be the Maloneys you refer to?

I'm really sorry as I'm new to all this ... yes number 3 ! Not 2 ... apologies ...
The family that raised her was Maloney ...  so don't think its this family Malone...

I never saw this birth register for Bridget Dunne 1923  .. can you tell me how I would get a copy ? Would it have the birth mothers name which should also be Bridget Dunne ? ...

I've looked at all Bridget Dunnes in Rathbride ... I'm thinking the mother could possibly be a Marion Bridget Dunne ...

The birth registration might not be her but is worth checking.

There are others for 1923 here https://www.rootschat.com/links/01q8u/
