This couple had a family:
Hugh 15 Jul 1758, Resolis
Margaret (chr) 19 Jan 1761, Resolis
John (chr) 19 Apr 1762, Resolis
David (chr) 10 May 1765, Resolis

I believe David married Ann McLeod and had a child in Nigg, Ross & Cromarty: Christina McLeod b. 1784 d. 12 Apr 1861.

If anyone can help with this family great!

I am wondering who Squire John McLeod, aged 77, in Resolis 1841 census at Gordonsmill might be?  I also wonder who Widow McLeod, aged 70, in 1841 Resolis 1841 census at Ferrietown might be too?

Knowing Hugh's marriages might help: I have a Hugh McLeod married to Mary Ross 27 Dec 1788 in Rosskeen.  I am thinking there might be some connection to Rosskeen but don't understand why?

Sadly there are no deaths on SP prior to Statutory Registration in 1855 at Resolis but there are deaths at Rosskeen, such as below:

MCLEOD ALEXR 5/10/1808 & MCLEOD CHRISTY 4/06/1804, sadly no detail.

Colin
Clarke, Trickett, Orton, Lawless, Norton, Detheridge, Kirby, Goodfellow, Wagstaff, Lowe, etc.

Thank you Colin.  I had missed the marriage.  I have the other family from Cromarty.  While it seems more connected to a Nigg, R & C family I have, some people from Quebec have claimed it and before I change anything need firmer evidence.

From another source, I have been told: "John Macleod (who died in Cromarty in 1842) had a sister Christian (died in Cromarty in 1847) who married an Alexander Grigor, lots of subsequent Grigor connections. She seems to have been a daughter of a Colin Macleod and Barbara Ross in Cromarty. John Macleod was a successful merchant with interests in both Cromarty and Inverness and ... bought Gordon’s Mill in 1819. No previous connection with Resolis as far as I can see."

I found another John McLeod (2 Feb 1821- 7 Jan 1886, Resolis) son of Donald (1798-1879) and Margaret Cameron.

I am even more interested in seeing where Donald MacLeod (1798-1879) who died in Alness fits.  He is mentioned in this article: <https://www.kirkmichael.info/Margaret_Cameron_of_Ferryton_and_Sheep_Park_and_the_1843_Resolis_Disruption_Riot_and_Cromarty_Jailbreaking.html>   The connections to Lochcarron, Oregon, Cromarty, and Nigg might be the break I was looking for.

Findmypast.com has transcribed Christian Peddison as Christian Davidson in record for son Hugh McLeod.  Davidson makes more sense but it is Christian Peddison, daughter of David Peddison.  The same sort of error is made in the marriage record too.

"Christian Pedison daughter to Davidson meler in Newmiln" instead of "Christian Pedison daughter to David Pedison meler in Newmiln". Subsequent baptism entries are to Alexander McLeod and Christian Pedison or Peddison.

There is no baptism of a Hugh McLeod in Cullicudden/Resolis on 15 July 1759 (Findmypast.com) but there is one to "Alexander McLend [i.e. McLeod] Mealer Bog of Cullicuden & Christian Peddison his Spouse" on 15 July 1758.

From an expert:
It is unlikely that it was this Hugh McLeod who married Mary Ross in 1788 as that marriage entry says he was from the Parish of Edderton, a long way away from the Parish of Resolis. Baptism records don't start in the Parish of Edderton until the 1800s.
Also:
Hugh's father, Alexander McLeod, wasn't a miller, he was a meller, sometimes spelled mealer or meler, a small sub-tenant.
