In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

So i have now seen the Schools admissions and yes indeed seems Sarah e Lowe was there twice, first on the 20th August 1894,then re admission on 25 April 1899.
It says parent or Guardian was a Mrs Hayes of  6 Bright Street Clay pole yard. It also says her previous school was catholic. It says her reasons for leaving was she was removed.
Her date of birth is listed as 5th April 1886 strongly i have my Sarah as the 5th march 1888 if this is her she was possible born out of wedlock or took in by another family ?
A couple of interesting things have also popped up so am hoping after 15 years of searching may finally be getting somewhere.
Can i just ask how could i find records of her first admission or adoption would it be the Archives ?I know in those days possibly it may not have been an official adoption.
I also see that Joseph was actually from Nottingham so am wondering if that's she why ended up back there from sheffield ?

These might fit

Sheffield Q2,/1887,  9c, 505
Sarah Ellen Law  mmn is Helliwell

Sheffield Q1 1888  9c, 459
Sarah Ellen Law, mmn Bentley

I'm not sure if we've discussed them before but I've certainly looked at them. The only problem is mothers' maiden names.

The 1887 birth with mmn Helliwell certainly fits - see reply # 25 re marriage of Albert Law and Annie Roebuck Helliwell.

Also - on the 1891 census for Nether Hallam there is a Luther Roebuck with an adopted daughter Sarah E, aged 4.

Missed your Reply #25, Shaun.

I must have looked at them the other day as they are showing in my previous searches.

I THINK and still searching that Annie Roebuck Halliwell married Albert Law in 1882 they had Sarah and he died in 1887.She then married Joseph Hayes in 1889.....
And with the Yorkshire accent Lowe/Law sound very similar.
