If you have not already done so it is worth searching for Ellen Crampton in the newspaper archive. Article in the Sheffield Daily Telegraph 10 Feb 1903 " The Sequel to the Leeds Murder Case - Charge against Prisoner's Wife" provides further information.

What a sad case, Millmoor. I noticed that the article states she is 25 years old which would mean she was actually born about 1879 rather than 1875. There was an Ellen Hanan who was born in Sheffield in 1881 but it looks like she married Joseph Hession in 1899.

Thanks all. An obvious census entry for Ellen would be this household in 1891, given that she married in 1895 in the Pontefract registration district. (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:72K7-HPZ)
