Mary Ann Walker
« on: Wednesday 27 January 21 15:36 GMT (UK) »
I am hoping that someone may be able to fill in some gaps in the background to this person, please.
The details I have for certain are that she married a Joseph Smith 31/5/1852 at Durham St. Giles, and went on to have at least ten children before 1877. The 1851 census shows her as born Bellingham, Northumberland and working as a servant at The Angel Inn, Crossgate, Durham, age 17.
Her age seems fairly consistent over the next three census returns, which would indicate a birth of 1833/1834 ??. The only other lead I have, which may be a red herring,  looks as though she may have been illegitimate....parents possibly a Jonathan Walker, collier of Cumberland , and a Ann Carr.
Could anyone help with birth/christening details together with death date between 1881 and 1891, please, ... in 1881 she was living in Burnhope, township of Holmside, with husband Joseph and five of their children.
   Thanks .

Well, that family of Walkers look likely, there's a daughter Tamar which might have influenced the choice of name for one of the Smith daughters.
