Can anyone help, I see to have hit a brick wall. Sarah Ann Wade born 13th August 1850, first daughter Annie born 1871 no father on birth certificate, she is a spinster, 3 more children after this, William born 1876, Annie born 1877, Elizabeth born 1878, father William Wade(I think) but cannot find marriage certificate anywhere.  Then in 1886 another daughter Charlotte born, no father on birth certificate but  says Sarah widowed for several years! Further down the line she shown on various census as married to. Walter Wade but again cannot find marriage certificate. Help needed!

In 1871 she is single living with parents William & Eliza in Leeds
In 1881 - single with 3 children living with widowed mother Eliza
1891 shows her as a widow surname Wade

You know she was born as Sarah Wade & there is no marriage to a Mr Wade so all her children were illegitimate

Can you explain what you mean by "further down the line she is shown on various censuses as married to Walter Wade"   Only 2 censuses left - 1901 & 1911 & I can't see a Walter Wade with a wife Sarah matching an 1850 birth in Leeds

Thank you everyone for your replies, I still wonder.....

a) Who is William Wade and why cannot I find a record of any marriage certificate after all he is named as father on Elizabeth and on Williams marriage certificate
b) Walter Wade is shown as father on both Charlotte and Eliza’s marriage certificate
c) Who is Harry Wade, he is shown as ‘son’ of Sarah with the rest of the family on 1901 census?
