Hereford Workhouse 1797 CHADWICK
« on: Thursday 28 January 21 15:12 GMT (UK) »
Isaac Chadwick born 1776, married Mary Bryan 1793, died 1797. What happened to his widow and baby son Francis? Are there any records from the Hereford workhouse of that date, please?

If this is Isaac and Mary and their son Francis, it is possible that Mary had more children after Isaac's death,

Thank you Daisy petal. I have discovered today that there are no workhouse records from this period.

Yes, there are other children, but I wanted to keep my enquiry simple.

There are several children born to a Mary Chadwick/Chaddock at Bullingham. It would be easy to assume that this is the same person, but I have found no evidence for that.

My direct line ancestor is James Chadwick born about 1798. His life is very well documented, but there is no baptism from this date, although there is one from 1803. He claims to have been born at Bullingham.

I have found no evidence to support the notion that his mother was Mary Chadwick, but there are so few Chadwicks/Chaddocks in the records, that Mary Chadwick is a possibility.

I'm clutching at straws, but I'm looking for that elusive fact that will enable me to make the connection with his mother. One thing is clear. Isaac Chadwick was not his father.

Thank you for your response. Much appreciated.
